Making Your Home More Secure and Efficient With Just a Click

Nearly half of American households are expected to adopt smart home technology by 2027, according to eMarketer, which provides digital data forecasts. Here are some popular devices homeowners use to make their homes more secure, reduce energy costs, and save time.

  • Outdoor security camera
More affordable and easier to install than ever, security cameras help prevent burglaries and porch package theft. Two-factor authentication provides additional login protection for accessing the captured security footage.

  • Smart door lock
Smart locks enable you to manage your security remotely by locking and unlocking your door through a smartphone or smartwatch app. You can combine these with other apps, such as video doorbells.

  • Smart speaker
Smart speakers work off an internet or Wi-Fi connection, responding to your voice command to play your favorite music or podcasts, check the weather, set reminders, and enable you to control household devices.

  • Smart plug
A smart plug is an inexpensive and simple way to automatically turn on or off household devices such as lamps, TVs, and fans with a phone app or voice command through a smart speaker.

  • Smart thermostat
This device connects to your internet and can automatically monitor and change your home’s heating and cooling temperature. Many of these devices can learn and adapt to your family’s temperature preferences. It’s great when traveling; you can check your home’s temperature and adjust it to the weather.

  • Video doorbell camera
A video doorbell provides the homeowner’ security by allowing them to see who is at the door and speak to them via two-way audio. Many porch pirates have been captured on video poaching parcels.

  • Water sensor
Water sensors detect water leaks (e.g., water heater) and notify the owner through a smartphone app. Some can even be programmed to shut off the water when a leak occurs.
